Carefully read all information to understand the summer assignment.
This assignment is optional, but we strongly recommend that you at least partially complete it. We will award bonus points for any portion(s) of the assignment that you choose to complete. The bonus points you earn will be added to your first-semester grade in early December. Many students find those points to be a saving grace at that point in the semester.
ALL WORK COMPLETED FOR TASKS 1-3 WILL BE DUE AT THE START OF YOUR PARTICULAR AP ENGLISH CLASS PERIOD ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS--WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15, 2018--WE WILL GRANT NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS DEADLINE!
***ANY work completed on Tasks 1-3 MUST be shared through Google Drive *** We WILL NOT accept paper copies--if you turn in work completed on paper, you will receive NO bonus points for it. Share all your work on Tasks 1-3 with BOTH email addresses provided at the bottom of this page.

To earn bonus points for this task, you MUST complete this form (can't find the form? It's hyperlinked to the words "this form"--hover your mouse arrow over the words and click when the arrow becomes a little hand) before 8:10 a.m. on August 15, 2018. Instructions for joining the Remind 101 group are in the form.
Hint: If you complete the form sooner rather than later in the summer, you *might* receive helpful texts/emails from your AP Lit. teachers.
Task #2--Create an academic resume.
You may format your resume however you like, but be sure to include the same categories of information that the two examples below contain. Also, be sure your resume is no longer than two pages (one page is ideal). You will be able to use this document for numerous purposes--some college and scholarship applications ask for a resume, and it is nice to offer one to any person who will be writing reference or recommendation letters for you.

Task #3--Compose a response to the following task:
List 5 works (fiction, poetry, drama, non-fiction, history, science, education, engineering, business, etc.) you have read during the past year that you have most enjoyed. Include two or three sentences after each explaining how this work interested or influenced you, placing an asterisk by those you were required to read for a class. At least two works need to be titles you selected and read on your own, separate from any class assignment.

How will you earn bonus points for reading a book? During the first three days of school, you will have an opportunity to take a quiz for bonus points over one of the titles listed above. While you will only be eligible to take one quiz for bonus points, you are welcome to read more than one title. If you feel keeping a reading log or taking notes will help you, please do so, but we will not collect any reading work for points other than the quiz. Experience demonstrates that students who read their selected books early in the summer but fail to review before the start of school do not do as well on the quiz for bonus points, so please keep this in mind.
